Rose Cafe – A Rosey Affaire (LoveStory)

Lovestories Banner Wide

A few years back, a friend of mine took me to this really beautiful café located in the most unusual of places. Surprisingly, I had never heard of it or knew anything about it. However, as soon as I entered, I fell in love with Rose café. So for me, it’s a lovely place to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

The café has a feel of a country cottage or an English tearoom with Pink and aqua colour dominating the décor. The floral print upholstery, the vintage wooden wall clock, the printed colorful cutlery and floral lamps make the place look charming. The laidback vibe of the place, the food, the lawn seating and the music make it cozy and homelike.

The menu design is in sync with the décor of the place and looks very appealing. It consists of Continental, Mediterranean and Lebanese food. The dishes that I would recommend you must try are:

  • Pan seared Chicken served with hummus, pita bread and vegetables.
  • Goat cheese walnut rocket pizza (Skinny Pizza)
  • Vegetable lasagna
  • Mustard Chicken
  • Mint lemonade infused with Kaffir Lime leaves

Pan seared chicken is served with a Mediterranean sauce, hummus, pita bread and sautéed vegetables. The juicy chicken and the smoky, tangy sauce on top make this dish extremely delicious. It is one of the healthiest and tastiest dishes one can order.

Two big pieces of chicken breasts are cooked to perfection with mustard seeds (tender and juicy) served with white mustard sauce on top, Sautéed vegetables, house potatoes and toasted bread. This is as delicious as it sounds. The creaminess of the sauce gives perfect balance to the piece of chicken and the vegetables add the chunkiness to the whole dish.

Rose Café also has a separate High Tea and Vegan Menu, where in they serve scones, sandwiches, toasts and sweet & savory tarts for high tea. For the vegans, there are some wonderful options in Desserts and Salads.

The food here is exceptional flavorsome. Most main dishes are served with house potatoes and vegetables, while the Lebanese mains come with Pita and hummus. Coffee and tea are also served with a tasty cookie. The pizzas are skinny pizzas and much healthier than the usual pizzas that are served in general. The portions of the dishes are quite rich and filling.

I will highly recommend the Mint Lemonade to everyone. It is the most refreshing, tasty and healthy drink to order. Sit in the lawn area and enjoy this lovely soothing drink.

20 minutes should be allowed, for the preparation of dishes, as the food served is fresh. Believe me it would be worth the wait. Fun part is, you can play board games while you wait for your food. The only downside, is that the staff can infuse a little more energy while they serve.

The cost for two would be Rs 1200-1500 with taxes.

I have been to Rose Café many a times now and it has always been a wonderful experience. The place certainly personifies the term “all things pretty”.

NOTE: Especially for Valentine’s Day, Rose Café has put together a delightful set DINNER menu, which would comprise of their best selling dishes and a dessert at a fixed price for two people. Please take a look and if you are interested, book a place for you and your partner, in advance.
